It's Tuesday - Aimee's birthday! We have already celebrated this morning by having breakfast at JK's Kitchen. I am working for her today so she can have a nice birthday without having to be here at work. Such a good friend I am! So the weekend was fun! Saturday we went to pay for cheerleading and then the girls went to an Easter egg hunt with Sarah at her church. Mom and I went to have manicures and pedicures! such fun! Then Sarah & Riley came over to help dye eggs. After that, we went to clean at FPS and Shawn helped - then we went to Papas & Beer. April and Abigail joined us and so did Brett, Sarah & Riley. It was a lot of fun! Saturday night we had family movie night, only this time the 4 of us all piled up in our bed instead of the living room. The movie was Bolt. We had already seen it in the theater but it was totally worth seeing again. Sunday was a little rainy in the morning so we had to wait until after lunchtime to do our egg hunt. I did go up to McDonald's to get us breakfast. I was actually going to make breakfast but Damion really wanted a sausage, egg and cheese biscuit and I didn't have any sausage. So, up to McDonald's I went! We hunted 76 eggs 3 times, or I guess I should say, I hid 76 eggs 3 times. We did pretty good up until the last round - then we couldn't find 2 of the eggs and I definitely couldn't remember where I hid them! :) At about 5:30, we went to mom and dad's (as did Brett, Sarah and Riley) for dinner. They fixed pork chops, green beans, black eyed peans, corn, potato salad and biscuits. Very good! After that, we went home and went to bed! Monday (yesterday) I was off work and Emma-Leigh had Bethany come over to play. I started transferring Emma-Leigh's closet clothes - taking out the winter clothes, putting in the summer clothes. All day task!! Then Madison got motivated and started cleaning out her closet (she had already transferred her clothes) toys. Pretty much everything came out. So now I have a kitchen table FULL of stuff and 2 trash bags full of trash. But now Emma-Leigh's closet is crammed full! So after we got all that done, we went over to mom & dad's to go thru a box that dad had gotten down out of the attic for me. It was everything you could think of from senior year. Pictures, letters, newspaper articles, everything! It would have been more fun for me to have someone to go through it all with me like Kim, Jen, Andrea or Aimee but it was still fun! I am going to post a few pictures when I get a chance! Then after I got done with that, the girls and I went to Target in the rain then we met Sarah at Old Navy and did just a little shopping! So now it's back to work and raining, again. Hopefully it will be a good day, even though I am by myself at work :(

Finally Friday (Good Friday)
Yay, it's Friday and the girls made the cheerleading squad! Now I have to figure out a way to come up wtih $705 by May 9th...both Madison & Emma-Leigh got up wonderfully this morning. I told them the names were posted on the website and to go find out if they made the team. Today is also "hat day" at school. If you wanted to wear a hat, you needed to bring $1 for the charity they are supporting. Madison didn't want to wear a hat but Emma-Leigh was wearing her sombrero that Damion picked out for her in Mexico. Very cute! So tomorrow we will go to TC and turn in their birth certificates, pictures and pay the registration fee ($150 for both of them) then come back home to dye easter eggs with Sarah & Riley. They are having an easter egg hunt at Brett & Sarah's church that she wanted to take the girls to but I'm not sure if they are going to go or not. Madison says she doesn't want to but Emma-Leigh probably will. And then, we have no plans! Not sure what we will do on Sunday...so glad it's Friday!!

Tryout day!
Tonight the girls will try out for cheerleading. It will be Madison's 6th time and Emma-Leigh's 1st. She is very excited and nervous. They will all most likely make it because they don't have more than 25 on any team. It's just the thought that they may not make it that makes them nervous. Madison is going to Cane Creek today with her class to tour the school and meet the teachers. We have already done that once but today will probably be a bit different. She is very excited! Last night Madison & Damion finished up the egg drop project. I had to do one in 5th grade too so it was pretty neat reliving it. My project was a tupperware container (it was orange) that I filled with sugar, stuck the egg in the middle, and put sugar on top of it, put the lid on the container and went with it. It worked too, never broke! Madison's is fabulous! Damion bought a piece of foam, they cut it in half, carved an "egg holder" in the middle of it and glued a zipper all the way around the middle of it and it zips up! Genius idea! She then colored the entire cube of foam with different colored sharpie markers in the shape of polka dots. She named it the Polka-Dotted Plunger! It should withstand the fall! I can't wait to see how it goes! We are one day closer to Friday and I am off 3 days next week so I am super excited! Happy Easter!!

Snow? In April?
Yep! There are flurries coming down as I am typing today's entry. Beautiful, I must say but it's too cold for this time of year and after the weekend we had, I am ready for some sunshiny warm weather!! School is as scheduled, though - secretly, I was hoping for a 2-hour delay. I am just so tired!! Cheerleading practice started last night. Emma-Leigh did wonderfully and is confident she will make the team. Last night there were 23 of them. Not sure how many they will keep but I hope her name is on the list Saturday morning. Madison's team had 8 show up. She won't have a thing to worry about. She, of course, doesn't really think about that. She continues to try hard and loves every minute of it. So it was late when we got home last night - after 8 and we still had baths and dinner to do. Thankfully, my mom is the best mom in the world and she makes sure their homework is done before I even pick them up. I love her :) so I made tacos while the girls took their bath and shower and after that, Emma-Leigh went right to sleep. It was Madison who was up later than she should have been - texting Emily on her cell phone until about 10pm. Emily is going to cheer this year, too. So that is exciting for Madison to have another friend on her team. Since they were 6, it has just been she and Bayley so it should be a great year. I've got to get on my corporate sponsors. Turns out I need about $650 for both of them to cheer this year. Emma-Leigh woke up this morning showing me her routine. I was so proud she still remembered it - but she has a great memory, not sure why I was even surprised. So, it's quiet here this morning and hopefully it will stay that way today. Cheerleading again tonight and hot dogs for dinner....unless I can convince Damion into something different. We'll see! Happy day!

What a wonderful weekend!
monday, April 6, 2009
Well, it's monday again but my what a wonderful weekend we had!! The weather was absolutely gorgeous! Although tonight they are calling for snow...we'll see. So Friday night, the girls spent the night with Vickie so they could get up early saturday morning to go to Kaleb's soccer game. Kaleb spent the night, too. Shawn, April, Damion and I went out to dinner at Outback. Saturday, I got up pretty early because I wanted to clean the house before the girls got home. They got home at about 12pm and when they got there, Vickie told me that Brandon had called her and asked her to keep the kids while he went to a wedding. She was going to a funeral and couldn't so I texted him to let him know that I could keep them. So 5 minutes later, Kevin, Jennifer and Kayley showed up. I packed them all up and we went to McDonald's for lunch. After that, I took them all to Michael's because I wanted to get a new flag for outside the house. Did that, then came home and they played outside all afternoon. They had such a great time! We didn't do anything Saturday night. Damion worked pretty late at the office anyway. Madison and I went to the grocery store and rented a few movies. We watched Beverly Hills Chihuahua when we got home. Sunday morning, Damion and I watched Seven Pounds - it was pretty good! Then we got up and went to lunch. We wanted to go somewhere different..so we ended up at Olive Garden. Then we went to the mall and walked off our lunch and went home after that. Later on, we went to FPS and cleaned and when we got home, Damion got down our summer clothes from the attic. Madison was really upset because she had grown out of pretty much everything. Emma-Leigh has enough clothes for her and 2 other people! she was very excited. So now it's monday and right now, all is quiet here at work. I am by myself and it's just the calm before the storm. . . . cheerleading starts tonight. Emma-Leigh has me convinced she is going to do it - and stick with it. So practice is tonight, tuesday, wednesday, 6 - 8. Tryouts thursday and registration is Saturday. The fun begins!!! Then nothing until the last weekend in July. So...here's to monday! I hope it's a great one!

Changes...
I found out just a little bit ago that one of my favorite people at work is leaving. May 1st will be Georgia's "move out day" and I will miss her so much. She is always bright and cheery every single morning and I will miss her smiling face. She will be happier where she is going but I will miss her terribly. I am trying to look at this as a positive thing for her and not a negative thing for myself. We have promised to keep in touch and will continue to be friends on facebook so it'll be okay. I just hate change....

April Fool's Day!
March is over..it went so fast! Today is April 1st and as of right now, I have had no jokes played on me. Actually, this is the first I've even thought of it! Emma-Leigh was quick this morning, though. She immediately said "It's April 1st - April Fool's Day! I'm gonna tell Katie I have 8 puppies!" I said maybe she could say something like "OH! You have a spider on you!" but she thought that was silly. So who knows what she told her, or whoever for that matter. Last night was a little chaotic. I had a doctor's appointment at 3:40 so after that I went to mom and dad's to get the girls but they hadn't finished watching Twilight from the other day and I needed to take it back last night SO, Emma-Leigh and I went to Target to drop off my prescription while mom and Madison finished watching the movie. I also went home to let the dog's out so they wouldn't hate us when we finally got home. Then we went back to mom and dad's to get Madison, went to the Book Fair, where I dropped $53 on books. Then we took the movies back to Ingles and went to Target to pick up my prescription. Once we got there, it was raining. AGAIN! So, we hurried in, I had a coupon (yay, April!!! I had a coupon) for a $10 gift card for any new or transferred prescription. My prescriptions were free because they were generic and because my insurance company is doing this thing the first half of the year where if you get generics, it's free. So I made $10 at Target last night! So then of course, I spent it. haha. I got chocolate milk, eggs, chocolate chip pancakes, for our dinner (breakfast). Total spent = .76 Aren't you proud? I was proud of myself! So, then we went home, I folded a load of laundry, called mom & Cindy and bragged about how much I didn't spend (they were proud) and then fixed dinner. The girls loved it and Damion of course, did not complain. Then we watched American Idol and finally, it was bedtime. Neither one of the girls could put their books down last night. So even though I spent $53 at the book fair, it was fine, I know it was for a good cause and they appreciated it. I even got a "Thank You, Mom" out of both of them! :) So the morning was good - Madison had said last night that she wanted chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast this morning. So she did! She got up good, got herself ready and ate breakfast - we were out the door! Emma-Leigh read the whole way to school! Now I am sending people to collections at work. what a drag! Maybe I will think of a good April Fool's joke to play on Aimee...
